‘Back To School Daze’ | Community outreach organization to give out approximately 1K fully-loaded backpacks and more
IGNITE Resource Center sponsors an inaugural back-to-school supply distribution event at the Georgia International Convention Center on July 31.
COLLEGE PARK, GA — “Time keeps on slipping, into the future…”
As we here in the Tri-Cities slide into what will shockingly become the third (can you believe it?) school year affected by the pandemic, the countdown has already begun for parents, kids, and guardians for that inexorable task of procuring school supplies.
For those of us still dealing with financial insecurities, the task of securing adequate supplies can, unfortunately, be much more than just an additional chore to squeeze into a bloated schedule.
That being said, the good folks at IGNITE Resource Center have stepped up once again to prove that it takes a village to look after those most in need.
The College Park-based community outreach organization is sponsoring its inaugural City-Wide Back-2-School Drive-Up Community Resource Fair at the Georgia International Convention Center located at 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 12 noon until 4 pm.
“We can’t build a community without providing for our children. You know there is no tomorrow if we don’t take care of our children today,” asserts Jamelle McKenzie, Executive Director for IGNITE College Park Resource Center to Vox Pop ATL.
Along with members from College Park City Council and other partner organizations, free book bags, school supplies, groceries, face masks, provide health, home buying, and financial resource service information will be available to the community.
